The world watched in 2019 as fires tore through the amazon and much of the subtropical Cerrado forest of Brazil and Bolivia. Seasonal fires have always been a thing in this part of the world but wide spread deforestation for cattle farming is making this problem much worse. Slash and burn techniques are practiced here leading to the loss of thousands of hectares of old growth forest annually. In short, this widespread deforestation is resulting in: less forest, which creates less humidity, more wind, more soil erosion, less rain, a hotter climate and more intense fires. Already the cattle struggle with lack of shade to keep cool and extreme droughts which result in more and more water wells drilled every year to maintain the increasing population of cattle.

The Chiquitania forests of Eastern Bolivia are at the heart of the crisis. The rapid change in the land and the climate is threatening the livelihoods of the indigenous communities who have managed their natural habitat for centuries under traditional management practices. However, the continued degradation of the natural ecosystem is not inevitable. Programs have already been initiated. First, to educate the local communities, and next to promote the planting and maintaining of local tree species that add economic value to the people who need it most.

100% of the money raised from donations goes directly into the communities for training and tree planting. This is an opportunity for us to plant real trees and help real people who need both economic growth and training for a brighter future. These trees will provide impoverished communities decades of socioeconomic growth; in addition to capturing carbon and mitigate climate change.
